Personal Goals

  • Complete beauty renders for shots 2 and 3
  • Composite beauty recreate and perfect the lighting
  • Continue to focus on communicating with my team

This week my main goal was to light and composite one shot that could be used to base the changes in our project off of. We needed a strong proof of concept that would reflect our end goal for the project.

Close attention was payed to key to fill ratios as well as back and rim lighting lights to create a higher sense of elegance in the shot. Light linking allowed me to really dial in the control on each separate render layer and craft the lighting look I wanted.

Along with Depth of Field I realized that volumetrics would be a good way to create emphasis and imply elegance in our lighting. I used the Redshift volume tools in Houdini to create atmosphere in my render.

I focused heavily on DOF and contrast in my rebuild composite. I combined the depth passes from each of my layers to give me a master depth map that could be used to generate DOF.

My focus in my nuke script was to create a clean rebuild that maximized control over lighting and beauty reconstruction in a way that was easy to hand off to any team member.
