Cold Heir was a super fun and interesting project to work on. The director came to me after the shooting of the film because he had a unique post-production challenge. The car that was used in the film had a SCAD sticker in the window that was apparent in the driving scenes and there was also a visible boom pole in one of the shots.
This was a new challenge that I hadn’t faced when doing clean-up work, how to go about paint out on a transmissive surface with a moving background. Thankfully the background of the shot was blurred, and the details were small enough that it was a manageable job.
Using Photoshop and Nuke I created multiple clean plates and blended them together throughout the video. I then tracked the sticker to match move the clean-up in time with the moving background clean plates. This was a project that definitely helped me develop an eye for detail in paint out and I leveled up my clone stamp skills in both Nuke and Photoshop.
